Several emails sent for medical claim from Peru and Ecuador did not go through. Email address was checked and was correct. I tried filing the claim by email when returned to USA and still would not go through. Finally I called and had the insurer email me and I replied with claim attachments and then it went through. Email address in question is [email protected] this needs to be fixed. It took 3 weeks after claim submission on 2/22/19 to get the check.

48 hours before departure, my physician called and told me that routine tests had identified a condition which required immediate follow-up. I called AIG the next morning, was provided claim forms that day and the claim was approved in about 4 weeks. It was a pretty easy process.

If you are anxiety prone or suspect that "foreign" cuisine might be challenging for you, this is protection you should probably consider. Due to our age; my husband's aversion to any food other than basic meat and potatoes and the many different areas we traveled to - including the Amazon, we think this was worth the cost.

After we arrived in Peru, we learned that our flight to Cusco the next day was cancelled. The airline was in bankruptcy. This was the first time we heard this news. If we didn't make it to Cusco on time, our trek on the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu (reserved five months earlier) would be forfeited, with no way to reschedule. So we booked new flights, paying same day fare, and relieved that we'd arranged travel insurance. The only thing I can say for Generali is that their message denying our claim was relatively prompt. I will never engage with this company again, and urge you to find a more trustworthy and reliable insurance company.

The Insure My Trip web application was easy to use and zeroed in on a couple of policies that we could choose from. The prices were reasonable. We spoke with an agent with our questions and she was very helpful. We initiated the process when we made our first cruise deposit, and we liked the fact that we didn't have to buy insurance based on an estimate of the other expenses we would have (optional tours, airfares). We paid the additional premium after we had made our reservations and had exact dollar amounts to work with.
