While on the trip a high altitude medication cause a small bleed in my stomach. I was glad to have the insurance in case i had to seek medical treatment or required evacuation. Fortunately neither one of those was necessary and the trip ended well. Who knew a common medication could cause such a reaction. Glad to have had the insurance.

Although I did not need to file a claim, I felt confident that if needed, C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector will oblige to cover all necessary claims within the contract.

I contacted them when my wife had a medical emergency while traveling, and although their immediate assistance turned out to not be necessary, it was reassuring to know that it was there if we needed it. A few days after I contacted them, they reached out to make sure my wife was OK and no longer in need of help. The claims process (medical and trip interruption) was straight-forward, and while the list of documents and forms was time-consuming to produce, there were no impossible-to-get requests, such as some other less scrupulous insurers demand. The claim was approved within one week, unlike the 30 days that other, less scrupulous insurers demand. I would definitely buy another policy from them, as the human concern during the emergency, and the speed with which the claim was eventually approved were both very good.

It took me five months to achieve final resolution of my claims against my policy. The final resolution was satisfactory, but Generali's attention to detail and responsiveness were very poor. Their initial payment on my trip interruption coverage was incorrect; they failed to understand that the total cost of the trip that I provided them was per person, not for the two of us combined, and so the payment was much lower than it should have been. They identified my "claim representative" soon after my initial contact, but several e-mails and phone messages to this person went totally unanswered. When I finally managed to speak to someone who could resolve this issue, it took only moments for me to explain the discrepancy, and for them to acknowledge that I was correct, and that the documentation that I provided had been sufficient and quite clear. For the medical claim, once again, their initial calculation of the payment due me was wrong; they had misread the Explanation of Benefits statement that I provided, reading the amount covered by my primary insurance as being the amount of my out-of-pocket expense. So I had to contact them again. When I finally got to speak to a real person, it took only moments for me to explain their error to them and for them to acknowledge it. After this they corrected the calculation and sent me a check for the correct amount.
No way should I have had to spend this much time trying to contact them about their own errors. And generally, the errors were due to people not carefully reading the information that I provided. And it annoys me no end to leave e-mails and voice-mails and have them go unanswered. In spite of having FINALLY received the proper payments for both trip interruption and medical, I would not use Generali again. My time is worth something too!
