The Voyager Choice is a single-trip Medical plan which offers emergency medical coverage while you are traveling abroad. This plan does require you to have primary health insurance in place, but there is no exclusion for pre-existing conditions. Purchasing this insurance prior to my trip gave me the confidence that I was being wise and that even if something happened I would be covered and it wouldn't become a devastating occurrence. I knew as soon as I bought the insurance that everything would be absolutely perfect and that's exactly what happened. I will buy this insurance again when I travel next year because it just brought me so much comfort to know it was there and in place if I needed it. The coverage offered by the GeoBlue Voyager Choice plan was just what I needed; emergency medical without limitations regarding pre-existing conditions. I didn't realize that making my initial trip purchases more than a few weeks before purchasing travel insurance would eliminate many coverages.

Comprehensive policies, a different type of travel insurance, typically require customers meet specific criteria in order to waive the pre-existing conditions exclusion. These conditions are generally:
1) Purchase the policy within 10 to 30 days of making your initial trip payment.
2) Insure 100% of the prepaid and non-refundable travel related expenses prior to your departure date.
3) Be medically fit to travel the day you purchase the policy.
