The ability to review, compare and select a plan from a wide variety of offerings is very helpful, particularly if you are over 65. Fortunately, we didn't have to make a claim so that aspect is an unknown. It would be even more helpful if insuremytrip had a separate (or easily accessable) listing of reviews for those who went through the claim process.

We almost had to file a claim for lost luggage. After looking at the requirements to file a claim it would be virtually impossible for any one to have documentation and receipts for personal items in the suit case. Who keeps receipts for clothing that could be several months or longer old and for a suitcase that may be several years old?
It seems bogus to even offer lost luggage protection.
Thank Goodness that the cruise line found our luggage and is shipping it to us.

    Thank you for your comments. Whereas your homeowners policy provides Personal Property coverage on a Replacement Cost basis, your iTravelInsured SE plan, as do most travel plans, provides Baggage coverage on an Actual Cash Value basis. Actual Cash Value represents the purchase price of an item less depreciation of the item's value since you bought it.

    You are correct in stating that most people would not have receipts for many items. Although many of our policies require receipts for reimbursement of any item, your iTravelInsured plan does make an exception:

    "For claimed items without original receipts, payment of loss will be calculated based upon fifty percent (50%) of the Actual Cash Value at the time of loss, not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250) per article."

    Although that amount would still be much less than expected, your policy does still offer broader coverage than most travel plans. Nevertheless, the best Personal Property coverage would always be provided by your homeowners policy.

We know what it is to have to file a large claim under a plan so we wanted the best coverage offered. This plan came highly recommended and brought us confidence when we traveled. Thank goodness we did not have to file a claim.

I certainly cannot recommend this plan, as I did not have to file a claim. It seems to provide pretty good coverage, but there is no way to know how they would respond unless I filed a claim.

It's difficult to rate a plan that I did not need to use. There was 1 disappointment however. I had an injury on the trip and because of circumstances, I did not receive medical attention. The tour wrote a report and I will be seeing a doctor now that I am home. However, even though it happened on the trip, I find that I am not covered.

    Although we are glad to hear that your injury was not serious enough to interfere with your trip, it is true that travel medical coverage only reimburses you for medical expenses that are incurred while on your trip.
    Here is the clause as stated in your iTravelinsured SE plan:

    "Benefits will be paid for the Covered Expense incurred, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, as a result of a Covered Accidental Injury or covered Sickness, which first occurs during Your Trip (of a duration of ninety (90) days or less for Sickness). Only Covered Expenses incurred during Your Trip (of duration of ninety (90) days or less for Sickness) will be reimbursed. Expenses incurred after Your Trip are not covered."

Your problem is in handling changes to the the coverage. One should not have to keep on it many, many times to add additional coverage for a pre-trip tour add on (earlier start). 6 calls to agency supervision in 8 days and several calls they had to make to you.
