In business since 1926, Nationwide focuses on providing the best possible service for its customers. Nationwide travel insurance plans offer a range of innovative benefits for a variety of travel needs.
As no one ever plans their delay - buying insurance is tricky. Seriously they emphasized all big words and promises to cover everything from departures to return home as long as cruise was part of the trip
We had a 2 days before and after cruise in Barcelona. And American Air canceled the flight for 24+ hour to final destination
Nationwide did not covered misses tour (because it wasn’t part of cruise) nor did they covered first night of the hotel charges that we have missed
Note to myself: Read, read, READ your policy and remember that insurance is a business and not your friend

Upon receiving your review, we assigned an "Anytime Advocate" to look into your claim. Nationwide has now confirmed that they processed your claim under Trip Delay and sent you a partial payment letter. Apparently your missed tour and hotel were not reimbursed because those prepaid expenses were not covered under the Trip Delay benefit as stated below:
"TRIP DELAY - The Company will reimburse You for Covered Expenses on a one-time basis, up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the
Confirmation of Coverage, if You are delayed, while coverage is in effect, en route to or from the Trip for six (6) or more hours due to a defined Hazard.
Covered Expenses:
(a) Any Additional Expenses incurred;
(b) A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination."
Nationwide next reviewed your request for payment under the Trip Interruption benefit. Sometimes a missed expense may be covered under Trip Interruption even it was not covered under Trip Delay. Unfortunately, the circumstance did not qualify for one of the covered perils under the Trip Interruption benefit.
It is never pleasant to have your claim denied. Hopefully this explanation will guide you to a future purchases.
I can not give a positive or negative review, because I did not have to use insurance. But, it was good to know I had insurance for unforeseen emergency. Rating may have been different if I used insurance

It’s good that there was no need to file a claim, which makes it difficult to rate the policy. We budgeted the policy into our planned spend, so yes affordable, but I suppose it can always cost less. I’m glad we had the coverage, and also glad it was not necessary to file a claim.

Since I had no occasion to use the plan, gratefully, I am not really in a position to respond to the questions.
I can say my choice of coverage I would hope was what was needed if the occasion arise it I can also say from comparison with friends co erase, had I looked further I could have lesser coverage at a lesser rate.

Since I (fortunately) did not have to file a claim, I cannot comment on their claim service. But their customer service in setting up the plan was quite good. The price is high (perhaps 10-13% of the insured amount) but it seems that is the going cost for any competing plan too.
