Fortunately, I did not need the insurance so I can’t attest to how a claim would have been processed. However, the plan provided the coverage I needed at a reasonable rate. The plan was clear and concise and communication was excellent.

Never buying it again, would not cover refunding son's portion of an excursion due to him being injured the evening before while on an excursion, told me to not even bother making a claim. In advance of making the purchase, they said not being able to make an excursion for ANY reason would be covered, then after they hid behind their fancy language and said it was only covered if the parties could not continue on the ENTIRE vacation, not just the one excursion. I asked a LOT of detailed question in advance because we were buying 2 very expensive excursions directly from the vendor, vs through the cruise line and making sure the excursions were covered was one of the key items we wanted to confirm.

Thank you for your review. All policies have listed covered reasons in which you can file a claim for reimbursement and they require documentation in order to be able to file a claim. In the event of an injury, or sickness, that affects a traveler and the trip you will need documentation from a doctor and documentation from your travel supplier showing how the trip was affected. In the future, we suggest contacting us or the assistance center if something happens while traveling and we can best assist you with understanding what to do. We look forward to assisting you in the future.
Due to a family emergency we had to cancel our trip. We thought that we were well enough insured but sadly this was not the case. Cancellation due to an injury or illness of a non traveling person was covered by the insurance, but only if that person is living in the USA, Mexico or Canada. It would have been nice if this was mentioned in the "small" letters before you purchase the insurance plan, or anywhere on the website. Only after purchasing the plan it was mentioned in the paper work that nobody ever reads! Costumer care was not helpful at all and only said: "you should have read the 20 plus pages after you purchased the plan". I think this kind of information should be more clear before you buy a plan.

I selected the Nationwide Mutual plan to cover our 15 day cruise to Hawaii after comparing it with several other plans. Fortunately we didn't need to file a claim for anything.

Not being an "insurance professional" I evidently purchased the wrong type of plan for our cruise. I sure wish they still had actual humans to TALK to and discuss/explain the options available and guide you to the correct plan.
Our trip was interrupted and we missed 2 of the main ports/stops. The insurance plan I purchased did not cover this! My paperwork was very misleading and have to be an attorney to understand the wording and exactly what I purchased.
I called customer service but not even sure they were with Nationwide or a broker.

We had an incident with our rental car, that wasn’t included in our regular auto insurance, of course we declined the Rental agency’s coverage, thinking we had the best and when we purchased the travel insurance we didn’t get the coverage for Rental Car. Since this was our first time getting travel insurance, we now know better! I was however grateful for the help of the travel insurance agent, as she directed us to contact our credit card company for the coverage we needed! Thank you for the help provided and saving the rest of our trip!
