I travel to Europe twice a year. I always purchase insurance. I’ve never needed to use it. The one time I thought I might have a medical issue requiring attention I was able to get immediate contact/feedback/instructions on how to proceed. I’m very satisfied with the excellent customer service I received.

The most wonderful thing to be said about a travel insurance plan is that you didn't need to use it. I have had travel insurance from Insure My Trip for two years and, thankfully, have never had to use it. However, the selection and purchase of the coverage my husband and I needed was handled very professionally and I felt that we were given every conceivable kind of information we would need if there had been a problem that involved filing a claim.
As we are on Medicare now, there is NO coverage when we travel internationally and we must rely on the travel insurance we select to cover our needs should be become sick or injured while traveling.
I will certainly use Insure My Trip for my next international travel. Their people are great!

It is not easy to review something that you never used. I can say that this insurance was easy to buy and the agents were helpful, and the price was good, but I have no idea if the company would have come through if needed, if the coverage would have been easy to use, or been available had I needed them. The good thing is that I was comforted believing that I had appropriate insurance. Whether or not I had it was not discernible. What I did do was check out the covering company on A.M.Best and it seemed to check out OK. Who knows? But for sure I will get the coverage next time within `14 days of purchase of my trip. the one thing that was worrisome was that "pre-existing conditions" are not covered if you buy your coverage more than 14 days after you first pay for your trip. And I have no idea what is considered a pre existing condition. Fortunately, I never had to make a claim on this insurance.

As described to me online by a sales agent, I feel the terms for unexpected illness of a relative is too stringent if that relative has chronic health issues. In my case, my brother has cystic fibrosis and is had recently had surgery. Given he's had dozens of surgeries, I was not led to believe any issues he had would've allowed for an early return from the coveted trip. I did not become an issue, but in hindsight I don't think I would've used this coverage again.

Whenever I go on a trip weather in the US or to other countries. In this case to fish for Atlantic salmon on the rivers of the Gaspe in Quebec. For peace of mind i always add medical and travel insurance coverage for my journey. Global Alert was the exact coverage I needed at this time.

The Global Alert Preferred Plus policy provides coverage in the event there is an "Accidental Injury, Sickness or death of You, Your Traveling Companion, Your Family Member, or Your Business Partner"
"“Pre-Existing Condition†means any Accidental Injury, Sickness or condition of You, Your Traveling Companion, or Your Family Member booked to travel with You for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the 180 day period ending on the Effective Date. Sicknesses or conditions are not considered pre-existing if the Sickness or condition for which prescribed drugs or medicine is taken remains controlled without any change in the required prescription."
At the time of purchase, if your brother was home and stable the pre-existing condition exclusion would not have applied to him. The definition of pre-existing conditions only includes Traveling Family Members. However, if he was currently undergoing any treatment or was hospitalized, a related claim would likely not be covered.
