I bought this for coverage of a beach trip we took down to Charleston, SC as hurricane Florence was headed that direction. Fortunately the area wasn't damaged and we were able to take our trip with no issues. I did not have to use the policy but it was nice to know I was covered. I chose this policy based on other reviews as well as some of the terms in it didn't appear as strict as other policies I researched.

Even with a professional insurance broker this was the only plan that could be found to cover a cross country road trip to National Parks with many non-refundable reservations. I was looking for something that would reimburse me the money lost on these reservations should we not be able to complete our trip due to weather or road obstructions affecting my personal vehicle, not just a common carrier (bus,plane,train). It also covered vehicle accidents that caused loss of refunds as well as pre-existing medical conditions as long as travelers were clear to travel at the time of departure. I would look here for a policy before anywhere else when I had similar concerns.

Never considered purchasing travel insurance until a coworker had a sudden death in her family the day her family was to leave on a $6000 vacation. She recommended that I purchase travel insurance because you never know! Even though I did not have to file a claim I felt it was well worth the extra expense.

I have never had a claim on travel insurance so I cannot say how good it is. How a company pays a claim is the way I would judge the insurance I buy. So up to now I can only say that you do a good job of collecting the premium but how you pay a claim I do not know......

We used Travelex for our month long cruise in the South Pacific. Our air arrangements were made by Silversea to Palau. Because of a United delay in San Francisco, we missed the ship and it took us five full days of flying all over the Pacific to join the ship in Vanimo. Travelex reimbursed us completely for the first five days of the cruise. An Excellent and Reliable company.

We didn't need any of the coverage, but it's nice to know that it's there if you need it. We've had trips for which we did need it, and were glad to have it. It is just one of the 5 P-s: Prior Planning Prevents P**** Performance.

Would have rated a 5, but was not sure if the plan covered cancellation due to hurricanes(Irma) or other related weather problems. Will have to review the coverages more carefully in the future. Possibly a cancel for any reason if cost is reasonable for the trip.

The Travelex Travel Basic policy does not provide Hurricane specific coverage, but does allow cancellation due to the following covered reasons:
"3. Common Carrier delays resulting from inclement
weather, or mechanical breakdown or organized
labor strikes that affect public transportation;"
"8. your Home made uninhabitable by fire, flood,
volcano, earthquake, hurricane or other natural
disaster;"
