It was very simple to purchase my travel policy. Once I made my payment, I quickly received a payment confirmation and policy number, followed shortly after with my policy documents. The best part was I did not have to use the plan.
However knowing that I had coverage over what I already had with the credit card company and my regular insurance was enough to have me climbing castles and fortresses without too much worry (other than my knees !)

I deem it necessary to buy insurance when on an overseas trip, therefore the answer is yes I recommend buying one. I had no claims so I can’t comment on whether or not this is good insurance. I did however have peace of mind knowing I was covered.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
The initial cost of the plan was okay when I first purchased the insurance, but when I tried to add more coverage for additional expenses prior to the trip (e.g., paid for a rented an apartment in Paris), the price was outrageously high. I didn't get all the coverage that I wanted because it became too expensive.
