I cancelled before the trip because of a grandchild’s marriage. I filed for cancel for any reason coverage that I bought for extra premium. For months I heard nothing on my simple claim. It was still pending and I began to get ANY response only when I enlisted insuremytrip advocate and threatened to sue in small claims court. Starr insurance that sold the policy has no service or claims procedure of any consequence. I filed a second claim and Sedgwick responded on behalf of John Hankock who was handling claims for Starr. I finally got paid on my cancel for any reason claim filed in July in November.

Our claim was finally paid - 90% of our unreimbursed expenses - 6 months after our trip.
We have had one almost disaster so BEWARE. There is a 20 day limit to file a lengthy form to start the process. That was never made clear to us when we called and emailed nor was it printed on preliminary forms. On day 18 I was feeling better, read the fine print and frantically got the form filed. I believe this 20 day limit should be much clearer, especially as we were still dealing with many medical issues taking up most of our time and energy.
It seemed like there were requests after requests for more information. Each time I submitted documents, more were needed. I finally figured out that some of our expenses were not going to be paid because I didn't have the proper cancellation notices and when I dropped those, the claim was finally paid. I will say I never had difficulty reaching customer service by phone and Teisha was always exceptionally helpful.
Since we absolutely did not go on the trip - I had multiple doctor/hospital visits in my hometown during the time of the hoped-for trip - it seemed that notices that items were nonrefundable should have been adequate, but often were not. Lesson learned, even though in some cases cancellation notices are not possible.
Then, as a last straw, the notice saying our claim would be paid clearly stated that the money would be in our account in 3 to 5 business days. When it didn't come in 7 business days I called as was told it could take 15 days. It arrived in 10 business days. Why send an email with something that isn't true?
This took a lot of time and effort, but I am grateful that the payment did come.

Had a great trip to Egypt along with Nile River cruise. Didn’t need to make any insurance claims (which is good), but at the same time, there is no way to evaluate how good (or bad) the claims process is.
