Insurance is always a good idea when planning a pricey once-in-a-lifetime dream vacation. Fortunately, our trip was fully enjoyed without any interruption or issue. Having this coverage gave us peace of mind knowing that if anything went off the rails, our financial loss would be minimized.

I did not get sick or have any flight delays. But the insurance did provide a sense of security since people do get sick, have accidents and flights are delayed. I went to Finland which is a country with no serious internal problems that I am aware of. Everything runs on time, everyone I ran into speaks English as well as I do, it is not a third world county. I still felt a need for insurance and at the end of the trip am still glad I purchased it.

I really hesitated reviewing this, because in my mind, the purchase of travel insurance ALWAYS goes smoothly. Who reviews the purchase of travel insurance negatively? The REAL review of travel insurance comes in when you have to make a claim, and I prayed during my entire trip, that I would not need to. And I didn't. As with ALL insurance companies (not just travel insurance), I thoroughly expect it to be a long, drawn-out battle to get something paid on a claim, which I would not have looked forward to. Again, thankfully, no claim was made.

My trip consisted of two segments, one where we travelled on our own and then when we started an organized two week tour. I bought this plan to cover my personal self directed travel, and in conjunction with a separate insurance plan to cover the tour offered by the tour operator at a very good price. I always buy my trip insurance through Insuremytrip as you never know when you will need it. Then you hope you are actually covered and or reimbursed without a huge hassle. The only time I actually filed a claim, the process was so bad I dropped my claim. On the trip that I am reviewing, I did not file a claim and so I have no idea whether the International Medical Group iTravelInsured SE plan was good or not. But I had the peace of mind knowing that hopefully I was covered.

Generali Global Assistance Premium
I had to extend my stay with two days and called to extend the insurance coverage,of course for an extra charge.To my surprise I was told they were unable to offer that.I was shocked when they also declined to sell me a new policy for the two extra days.I think it is very rigid and customer unfriendly.For that reason,I will never use Generali again.

    Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, with any Comprehensive plan, after you leave home the plan cannot be extended. The Generali Global Assistance Premium plan offers extension of coverage in the following event:
    "Extension of Coverage
    All coverages under the Policy will be extended if your
    entire Trip is covered by the Policy and your return is
    delayed by unavoidable circumstances beyond your
    control. If coverage is extended for the above reasons,
    coverage will end on the earlier of the date you reach your
    originally scheduled return destination or seven (7) days
    after the Scheduled Return Date."

    In the future, if you are extending a trip, please call us at 800-487-4722 and we can go over any available Single-Trip Medical plans for the additional dates that you need coverage.
