HTH Worldwide Trip Protector Classic
This was probably the easiest claims process I've ever used (and I've used several). I just went online, pulled down the list of needed documents (no surprises there), then scanned the docs and sent them in an email. 7 days later they sent me an email showing the claim settlement, and a few days later I got the check in the mail. No need to call during business hours; no need to ask for clarification on anything.

I submitted a claim for $250 in medical & pharmacy expenses, and they paid everything except the $6 Uber ride to the doctor (and when they denied that, they sent me the language from the policy explaining why).

Their policy was slightly more expensive than another company's, but I think it was worth it for the ease and speed of filing the claim.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I highly recommend this. I did not need this but one lady in our group had to have an emergency appendectomy. They did not have insurance.

We had to cut our trip short because of a death in the family and Travel Insured was very responsive. Very pleased and would highly recommend.

We had to cancel our trip due to a death in the family. The first thing the claims agent said was, "I'm so sorry for your loss." That kind of consideration counts for a lot!

The claim was handled efficiently and promptly. We got a refund check within two weeks.

April Travel Protection Choice
Refund Policy is not clear...April insurance does not clarify that only a partial premium refund is available after a certain time frame. Customer service made a false comment regarding that there is no lookover period in NY. It is usually between 10-15 days after doing my own research.

    The refund policy is located in your certificate and reads as follows:
    'Cancellation by the Insured:
    You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Administrator or Us (stating when thereafter the
    cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation.'

    Thank you for your feedback. Pro-rated refunds are provided for policies in which the "Cancellation by the Insured" language is included in the terms and conditions of the policy.

    Per our records, the pro-rated refund amount was confirmed as a reply to your cancellation request email, on 5/2/17 at 5:03pm EST. The pro-rated refund was the difference from the paid vs earned premium of the policy used from 2/6/17 (Effective Date of Policy) to 4/30/17 (Cancellation Request).
