Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Difficult to say that I was completely satisfied with the insurance policy because I did not have to file a claim. The real test for any insurance companies is how helpful and supportive they are during the claim process.

We have always purchased trip insurance for our vacation travels. This was the first time I had ever had to file a claim. Our connecting flight was delayed over 3 hours causing us to miss embarkation in Miami for our 7-day cruise. The first 2 days were spent at sea and the first port of call in St. Kitts. We would not be able to get to the ship until 3 days later. We thought that our comprehensive insurance would reimburse us. However, we received an email notification from Nationwide denying our claim stating that because the flight was only 3 hours delayed we were not eligible to be reimbursed for anything. We were not refunded for trip delay or trip interruption. We paid just over $5K for the vacation and another $197 for the insurance that proved to be worthless. I would not recommend buying trip insurance from Nationwide.

I got Covid . Had to stay isolated in hotel, while group went on to Amsterdam. Had to pay separate fee to get to airport. I did not call a doctor. I now know I should have done that. I had 2 positive Covid tests , and spent $500 for hotel and $250 for trip to airport. Called you to ask what to do , and you said I should have called doctor. It was a Sunday , a week ago today. I did not call a doctor. The Dutch see Covid as a Flu. I could not risk giving it to my older travelers in group.
I had a fine time recovering in Apeldoorn..
Now I understand so should have called a doctor to confirm that I was sick . This is my fault . I know that now.
Thank you,
Mary Dangremond

I did not use the plan. I don't know why you ask these rating questions when I didn't use it , so I don't know if I was satisfied unless I made a claim and saw how you handle the claim and what you deny me or not.
When I did not use the insurance, it DEFINITELY wasn't worth it paying $1100 for it.

I think it's a good comprehensive package and provides extensive coverage for difficult jurisdiction. However, some policies provide more flexibility with respect to changes in your travel itinerary. The company refused to extend the policy by a few more weeks when it became inadvisable for us to take our return flight on the scheduled date. This is an entirely fictional restriction on coverage which left us abroad with no protection and no means to buy a new policy (since we were already out of the country and therefore ineligible)
