I waited to get my insurance until the date I was committed. I paid in full more than 14 days prior to the commitment date at which I could still get a full refund. I felt I didn't need insurance until my payments were at risk if I canceled. This prevented me from getting pre-existing conditions coverage. Otherwise coverage for price was very good

Since I did not have a claim on the plan, I can't really evaluate how good "it would have been". The people I talked to on the phone were knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. I had confidence traveling with the protection provided. Since I am 71, I was asked to get my physician to certify that I was able to travel on the day that I purchased the insurance. I did that but it was inconvenient to get an appointment, have them enter a letter in my files and purchase the insurance on the same day. Is that really necessary? Couldn't you specify some window between the purchase time and physician's certification? That is my only complaint.

Thank you for your review. A letter from a physician is typically not required. However, if a customer mentions a medical condition they may have, it may be recommended to obtain a letter stating you are fit to travel etc. for your own benefit should you need to file a claim.Jul 05,2013

In Italy everyone gets free medical care, even tourists. I wish I had known this when I bought insurance. It might have effected my amount purchased. Nevertheless, the medical transfer covered is important in the policy. I know about the free Italian health care because my room-mate had a reaction to an anti-biotic she was taking and the doctor and medication were free. Plus she got in immediately at the clinic.
We were in Apullia, Italy in the town of Polignano del Mara and we traveled everyday to other cities. We visited three UNESCO World Heritage sites within 1 1/2 hours of Polignano, to see Castello Del Monte, the Trulli homes, and the Sassi cave homes. The region is not visited by great numbers of Americans, so it remains very non- tourist focused and natural and the people are genuine and welcoming, but I would suggest know some Italian. The country side is filled with olive trees and vineyards and we visited both an olive mill, where we had a spectacular specially prepared lunch featuring many olive oils, and also a vineyard where we tried their wines and also had a great meal. The sea side is rocky and beautiful with towns clinging ton the cliff tops and there are larger cities with medeival city centers featuring Baroque churches and lovely balconied apartment homes. The skies are almost always sunny and you feel the same way. Loved this region.

There are a huge variety of options available on the internet. I chose to call the 800 number provided and the customer service representative was very helpful. If we felt that all of my questions were answered, that I got a better deal than what I expected and the service was excellent.

It's impossible to know if insurance coverage and the company behind that coverage is good, bad, or indifferent until one has to file a claim. But with regard to your plan and my purchase of it, it seemed to be a good mixture of value offered and reasonable cost, thus my "mostly satisfied" rating above.
