It is hard to rate an insurance plan if you didn’t file a claim. We fortunately did not need to file a claim. A review from someone who did file a claim will carry more weight for a review. I did like knowing that if some unforeseen circumstance occurred we would not have been out thousands of dollars.

I contracted pneumonia the day before we were supposed to return from Italy. Once home and somewhat functional, I submitted the receipts for the Doctor visit (came to hotel late at night), medications (including injections, prescriptions, & OTC), additional night at hotel, and airfare change fee. Travelex paid all the expenses submitted within 14 days. The only glitch we had was when my husband called TravelEx from Italy to find out how to proceed. The woman who answered the Travelex international "assistance" number would not provide any assistance or suggestions, other than stating we needed to file a claim - however, she refused to take our policy number to initiate one (she also refused to give her name). Thankfully, our Tour Manager was very helpful, and all our other dealings with Travelex were stellar. We will definitely use them again.

I have not had to file a claim during my travels, but it gives me peace of mind to know I have protection if I have a medical emergency overseas. Italian taxi drivers may be safe, but traffic in Italy makes a wild ride.

Great to have this plan since my brother-in-law (who we were traveling with) was in the hospital 2 weeks before the trip. Luckily we did not have to cancel but the plan would have covered us if we had to. As we get older, the plans cost more, but they do bring peace of mind.
