I filed a claim to recover over $400 in airline ticket costs because the US State Dept issued a Travel Advisory warning for that portion of Mexico......I was denied and told that cartels bombing ferries in Cozumel isn't really Terrorism?????!!!!!!!!

What a ripoff!!! Never again do I buy travel insurance!

Thank you for submitting your comments on your TravelSafe Classic plan. However, there are no travel insurance policies that will reimburse you if you cancel your trip due to a US State Department Advisory or Travel Warning.

In order for you to cancel your trip due to terrorism, the “Terrorist Incident” must be determined to be "an act of violence, that is deemed terrorism by the United States Government other than civil disorder or riot (that is not an act of war, declared or undeclared) that results in loss of life or major damage to property, by any person acting alone or in association with other persons on behalf of or in connection with any organization of foreign government which is generally recognized as having the intent to overthrow or influence the control of any other foreign government."

Although it is never pleasant to have your claim denied, please understand these policy terms are an industry standard and not limited to TravelSafe policies. InsuremyTrip makes all this information readily available for you to read prior to purchase on our website simply by clicking on "View Certificate" or by calling InsureMyTrip at (800) 487-4722.

Good value for the money. InsureMyTrip website interface and ability to compare plans across them is well designed and easy to use.

We cancelled our trip because my son and his wife were expecting their first child the same day that we were supposed to leave.

I purchased this plan for a significant trip that was planned well in advance. Unfortunately, major family health issues required me to cancel the trip about a month before the departure date. I promptly filed a claim, and spent hours pulling together the extensive paperwork that was requested (proof of reservations, proof of cancellations, documentation about the medical issues, etc.). TravelSafe/TripMate's response seemed to be to stall, delay, request additional paperwork, and (seemingly) hope that I would give up and go away. After submitting paperwork (by mail or online), it generally took TripMate about 1 week to acknowledge receipt in their online system, even if I called to confirm that they had already received the paperwork. Then there would be a delay of several weeks, before I would receive a request for additional documentation, which often duplicated documents I had already sent (or were slightly different versions of prior documentation). I always promptly responded to the requests and sent the requested documentation so that I would not delay the process. My claim was finally approved about 3.5 months after I initially started the claim. However, the reason my claim seemed to finally gain traction was that my travel companion (same trip/insurance/reason for cancellation) contacted the InsureMyTrip advocates after receiving no response or updates about her claim after several months; the advocate quickly got her claim resolved and paid. After notifying TripMate that my companion's claim had already been paid, my claim was finally approved and paid about 2 weeks later. Overall, this process seemed far more complicated and slow than necessary; I do not plan to purchase travel insurance through this company again.

We are sorry to hear that the TravelSafe / TripMate claims process was so difficult. Although the processing did take an unusually long time, TravelSafe / TripMate was fair in settling your claim and providing payment as you confirmed.

It was unfortunate that you were unable to take advantage of the services of an Anytime Advocate much earlier in the process. If you should ever have to file a claim in the future, please be sure to contact us to request assistance if you do not hear from the claims department within 30 days of submitting your paperwork, or if you believe that your claim was unfairly denied.

InsuremyTrip is available weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.

I'm sorry but I believe Cost vs Risk is NOT Realistic. The Price for a round trip consisting of two domestic flights of less then 4 hours is extremely high. Airplanes are not dropping like flies to warrant such a high premium. I firmly believe your underwriter's department needs to review and analyze the data and offer package that address realistically the risk. Are your underwriters considering Distance, Actual Flight Time and Destinations in setting the Premium? Your current price for the above-mentioned is not one I could possibly recommend. Consider and Annual Policy for what I consider a local flight with little or no risk and you'll have a customer for future travel and one that will recommend a Travel Insure Plan that's effective, efficient and economically sound.

Thank you very much for your comments which pose a reasonable question.

Comprehensive plan premiums are based on trip cost, age of traveler, length of trip and sometimes destination. In your particular case, you were further limited because you reside in Puerto Rico so that only two companies were available to you.

In the future, we suggest that you call us for assistance before purchasing a plan. Your TravelSafe Classic premium was 20.3% of your trip cost, but there were less expensive plans available including a TravelSafe Basic plan.

InsuredMyTrip is available weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

This inexpensive policy provided peace of mind while on a 2-week trip to Italy. It offered the best coverage for the price.

Not sure how useful a review is without needing to file a claim. It seemed that all was in place and i am grateful I didnt have to use it! It was more reasonably priced than the plan offered by the travel agent for our ski trip. I previously have always purchased from travel agents (i used to be one) or from vendor directly. Happy to have more options and enjoyed the comparison feature on insuremytrip.com.

How can you really rate these plans if you do not have to file a claim? Fortunately we did not have to file a claim. If we did file a claim with the insurance carrier we could then offer a better informed review.

I have had several plans with TravelSafe over the years. Always a good product. But what I most like, I tend to make mistakes when filling out the plan and I have called and the corrections are made quickly and width no fuss. Thank you for that.
