Fortunately, I did not have to file a claim. I did have peace of mind knowing that if anything happened I would not be out of a lot of money. The representatives I dealt with both online and over the phone were knowledgeable and helpful. I would purchase a policy from them again.

It should be easier to find the type of plan I purchased with the online tools. I needed to speak to a representative to find a plan that satisfied my limited needs (cancellation for a specific list of reasons) and did not also cover a comprehensive list of other items for a much greater charge than I was willing to pay.

Due to flooding and high water on the river - weather and safety concerns required that we fly into a safer starting point for our insured trip. The required safety was an additional flight of $120/pp and this was not covered.

    Thank you for bringing your situation to our attention. We all agree that finding that there is no coverage for a specific loss under a policy would never be a happy experience.

    Travel Delay, which required a minimum of a 6 hour delay, under your TripAssure policy would have only reimbursed you for those additional expenses due to defined Hazards as listed in your policy:

    “Hazard” means:
    a) any delay of a Common Carrier (including Inclement Weather);
    b) any delay by a traffic accident en route to a departure, in which You or Your Traveling Companion is directly
    or not directly involved;
    c) any delay due to lost or stolen passports, travel documents or money, quarantine, hijacking, unannounced strike, Natural Disaster, civil commotion or riot;
    d) severe storms that cause a route closing validated by the National Weather Service records and local Department of Transportation Records.

    Since your additional expense was not a result of a defined Hazard, TripAssure declined your claim.

It took many calls and over 2 months from the time I submitted my claim until I was paid. Over the course of 2 weeks, I called every other day and was never able to get through to talk to anyone but the general customer service representatives that answered the phone. This company should not be allowed to sell on this website! I had to file with the insurance commissioner and an advocate through InsureMyTrip.

I haven't reviewed these plans in the past, but this was the first time we ever purchased and had to use the plan. We had flights at both the start and end of our trip cancelled, leading to delays and loss of hotel/extended hotel stays. TripMate, the claims administrator for M.H. Ross, was great about paying our claim. We received the money less than a month after submitting the claim. A couple of caveats - they are not very good at communicating the claims status, and you have to make sure you have documented proof of everything - which is no surprise. My advice is if you get in a situation where you need a claim, copy every document, especially for flight cancellation. They wanted both our old and new boarding passes, which normally you give at the gate, but we made copies of them beforehand. Overall, the experience was an A+. They never questioned any of our claims,and payed us very promptly. What more could you want?
