On the 1st day of our arrival in UK, my NorthFace jacket was lost/stolen while on platform of London subway. When I returned home, I filed a claim with RoamRight for the replacement cost of the jacket (less than $100). I received 1 email saying the claim was filed and requesting proof of trip itinerary, which I furnished immediately. The claims department has been unresponsive since that. After making about a 6 or 7 phone calls, I was told my claims representative no longer worked for RoamRight. I was provided the first name of the claims representative who was now assigned to my claim. I requested to have my call directed to the new claims representative or their voicemail, but was told they cannot receive incoming calls (??). I asked that the claims representative call me, and was promised on 3 separate occasions she would call me. I never received a single call ! A week later, I received an email asking me to provide proof that I filed a report of my loss with my tour company, hotel or police. There was no tour company, and the hotel was not involved. Anyone who even looked at my claim submission would realize that. I again contacted RoamRight and asked to speak to my assigned claims representative or their voicemail once again. I was again told that was not possible. I asked the person taking the calls if the policy had specific language requiring a police report in order to pay claims. Of course, I got not answer or explanation.

I have made over a dozen phone calls to claims department, have been lied to 3 times by being promised a return call from my claims representative and just generally ignored. To date (after 2 1/2 months), I have received 2 emails only. It seems the policy of RoamRight is too ignore claims until the policy holders just wear out and give up.

I would not recommend anyone purchase a RoamRight policy.

I have purchased other policies here at insuremytrip.com and had to make a sizable medical treatment claim on one policy. Working with the claims department on that loss (not a RoamRight policy) was straightforward, honest and fairly quick. The experience with RoamRight has been dishonest, evasive, and consisted of misleading communications.

    The Arch RoamRight Essential policy has the following information in the certificate:
    "For Baggage and Personal Effects and Baggage Delay:
    In case of lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or delayed Baggage and Personal Effects, You must:
    a) take all necessary and reasonable steps to protect, save or recover the property;
    b) notify, within 48 hours of the loss in writing, the police, hotel proprietors, ship lines, airlines, railroad, bus, airport or other station authorities, tour operators or group leaders, or any Common Carrier or bailee who has custody of Your property at the time of loss;"

    In the future, please consider contacting the claims department immediately after suffering a loss to receive the claims procedure. Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns. We would be happy to assist you.

Fortunately, we did not need to use the insurance plan. We have never had to use insurance for any of our travels ( all 7 continents) however the peace of mind is important. Expensive, but precautionary. The final leg of this trip was on a cruise ship. In two ports, there were ambulances pulled up to the ship to take off passengers before the rest of the cruise passengers were allowed to depart. Not us, but a reminder of the need for insurance for medical emergencies, if needed.

"Mostly satisfied" because we didn't have to file a claim...which is a good thing. Until one really has to exercise the claim process, up until then no one knows how good the insurance really is.

On the way back, I encountered road closures due to a snow storm. I called Roam Right to confirm if I would be covered for a hotel stay. I explained that I just landed, was walking off the plane and on my way to customs. The person wanted me to go to a website. I explained again my inability to do so. His response, "All I can do is give you the information. It's up to you to do with it what you want." This is extremely poor customer service in a situation where I needed an immediate response. I asked for a manager and he put me on hold and a manager never came after being on hold for 15 minutes. I finally hung up and had to call Insure My Trip to get an answer to my question. I will never use this insurance company again as I shudder to think of how they will handle my issue if I was in a real emergency situation in a foreign country.

However, your RoamRight Essential plan would not have provided reimbursement if you had needed to cancel or interrupt your trip due to sickness, injury or death of a pet. In order to cancel or interrupt your trip for that specific reason, you would have needed to purchase the RoamRight Preferred or Elite plans including Cancel for Any Reason coverage.

    Please note that none of our plans provide coverage under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption for issues relating to a pet. In the future, you may wish to call Customer Care at (800) 487-4722 to discuss your options for any future trips.

ROAM RIGHT told me not to even file a claim for trip interruption even though I had insured a $700 credit card payment for a Wimbledon session that I could not attend. I was very disappointed with this company and will NEVER use them again.

    We do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing customercare@insuremytrip.com, explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.

    We value your opinion and are sorry to hear that you were drenched from a rainstorm and opted not to attend the Wimbledon tennis match.

    Like all other travel policies, RoamRight's policy clearly describes situations when there is coverage as well as situations when there is no coverage. And like other companies, our claims examiners cannot administer claims decisions over the phone. While our claims examiner did advise you that your reason for not attending the event did not appear to be a covered reason as outlined by your confirmation of benefits, she also explained that in order to receive an official claims decision a claim needed to be filed.

    Subsequently, the claims administrator emailed claim forms to you. It is our policy to encourage travelers to file a claim for our review even when in doubt.
