STAY AWAY FROM AXA INSURANCE. An insurance plan is only as good as the claim process, and my experience was terrible. My hotel reservation was cancelled 4 hours prior to arrival, due to the hotel booking firm going out of business. I called to ask whether my policy covered this as I was not sure if it did. The customer service person promised me a response in 2 hours, as he was also not sure, but none came. More than 24 hours later (during which time I had to scramble to rebook the hotel at a higher cost), I received an email saying I had filed a Trip Interruption claim (I had not - and it didn't seem that it would be covered under this section anyway) and asking for documentation they knew I wouldn't have. There was no explanation as to why they sent this and suggested I file under that. I emailed back to explain the situation as I assumed the phone rep had not understood or correctly communicated it, and question what the email was about but received no reply. I also received no further communications asking if I needed further assistance, or wished to proceed with my claim. All-in-all this was a very frustrating experience under stressful circumstances, I will not buy from AXA Assistance again.

I am glad I purchased trip insurance for a once in life time 2 week trip to Italy. Luckily nothing prevented us from taking the trip and we didn't have any issues during the trip so we didn't need to file a claim. It would be nice if you use the same company several times for different trips that they provide you some type of rebate or cash back if you don't need to file any claims.

A couple of weeks before I was to leave for Italy, the doctors discovered I had lung cancer and suggested I cancel my trip as they wanted to start treatment immediately. I notified AXA to cancel my trip and it was done right a way. Filled out proper paperwork and after several months, I received my refund check. I would definitely recommend this travel insurance. They kept me updated as to the progress of the check. Will use this insurance on any of my future travel experience. They were wonderful. I thank you AXA!!!

Fortunately, I did not have to use the plan so I am unable to provide a review. While our luggage never made it on the plane on our day of departure, April 21st, we finally received it on April 23rd and all was intact, so no need to file a claim.
