I fell in New Zealand and had a large bruise on my leg. The international telephone number was not working so I could not ask about special accommodations on my flight home.

I purchased an AXA Assistance USA Gold Plan for a 2 week trip to New Zealand for myself and my husband. Unfortunately we had to cancel about 6 weeks before the trip due to a medical problem. I was worried that AXA would make me jump through hoops to get our refund for trip expenses but that was definitely not the case. The AXA claims specialists were professional and helpful. I submitted the paperwork that was necessary and got notification of acceptance for the claim and a check very quickly. I will use AXA in the future.

Since we had no claim, as usual, it is hard to evaluate how the service is if we ever do have a claim. One must always read the fine print in policies, though, as even "Cancel For Any Reason" may not mean that.

We have used Insure My Trip many times.

The description of coverage for each plan can be accessed at several points during the quoting and buying process on our website. If you have any questions regarding policy language, please call us at 800-487-4722 so that our representatives can help provide clarification. We want customers to have a clear understanding of what the polices cover and how they work.

    Trip Cancellation reimburses 100% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost insured on the policy if the trip is cancelled for a listed covered reason.

    Cancel For Any Reason is an optional benefit which can be purchased in addition to Trip Cancellation. If the eligibility requirements are met, the benefit is selected and paid for, the customer can cancel their covered trip for any reason. Any reason does mean any reason.

    Cancel For Any Reason benefit reimburses between 50%-75% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost depending on the policy.

    In general, Cancel For Any Reason is applicable if:

    1) the policy is purchased with the benefit included within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment (time frame depends upon specific policy)

    2) the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements in insured on the policy

    3) the trip is cancelled at-least 2 days prior to the Scheduled Departure Date.

I had a claim and the representative I talked with was helpful. I had trouble with using the AXA website, so I asked for a claim form by mail. I finally got the website figured out before the claim form arrived by mail. My claim was honored in full, but I had complete documentation.
