Well, you hate to have to use insurance, but the "any reason" insurance made it easy to get reimbursed for my unplanned trip expenses. I highly recommend getting cancel for any reason policies.

I’ve used your insurance for years and it’s good. There should be insurance if you have to leave your accommodation due to unacceptable conditions for lodging ie broken ac, filthy etc.

In the end I did not fully insure my trip as the "cancel for any reason" component became too expensive. So I did not insure the remainder of the trip once I knew that I was taking the trip.
