Filed a claim after a flight was canceled and we had to purchase a last minute more expensive ticket on another airline. Generali paid the difference between the two tickets. They approved the claim in one day and we received a check two weeks later. My advice is to send ALL documents relating to the claim even if it seems redundant.

What a great service! I would have paid many times more through the cruise line and received a fraction of the coverage. I checked options on line and was super impressed with the coverage and choices. I used the online chat and had the best experience ever. I got very customized care and was able to tailor a plan literally, with exactly what I wanted. I didn’t have to buy coverage I didn’t want. The agent then sent me links to all the best plans in her opinion. I ended up buying the coverage I wanted for an excellent price and immediately my wife and I had tremendous peace of mind on our vacation without breaking the bank.

The plan was great. The problem was that I had no idea that insurance should have been purchased at the same time, or nearly the same time that I purchased my airline tickets. Because I did not purchase my plan in a timely manner there was something (I can't remember what) I was not eligible for.

Did not have to file a claim, so I can't rate whether I would recommend the company. I do know that if you need to file a claim, the # 1 recommenation I can give is "HOLD ON TO ALL OF YOUR RECEIPTS".

We didn't need to file a claim but were happy for the peace of mind in case things went wrong. The cruise line misplaced one piece of luggage and during my hour wait it was good to know that had they lost my bag we would have been covered.

This plan was competitive in terms of pricing, but the fact that any losses I would suffer due to illness were not covered made it a very poor value for me. The reason medical problems were not covered was that I had not purchased the insurance within one week of my final trip payment. Even though this major source of potential trip cancellation was not covered, there was no discount applied to the premium. I experienced no problems and filed no claims, but withholding this coverage without offering any discount was a major disappointment and greatly reduced the value of the policy for me.

    The Generali Global Assistance Premium plan provides a waiver for pre-existing conditions with the following requirements met:

    "a. coverage is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final Trip Payment; and
    b. you are medically able to travel at the time the coverage is purchased; and
    c. you insure 100% of your prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions."

    If you are not able to purchase prior to or within 24 hours of your final Trip Payment or you do not insure 100% of your prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions, you would have a 180 day look back period should any claims be filed.

    "PRE-EXISTING CONDITION means a Sickness or Injury
    during the 180-day period immediately prior to your
    effective date for which you or your Traveling Companion:
    (1) received, or received a recommendation for, a
    diagnostic test, examination, or medical treatment; or
    (2) took or received a prescription for drugs or medicine.
    Item 2 of this definition does not apply to a condition
    which is treated or controlled solely through the taking
    of prescription drugs or medicine and remains treated or
    controlled without any adjustment or change in the required
    prescription throughout the 180-day period before coverage
    is effective under this Policy."
