The Global Alert Preferred plan offers comprehensive Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip due an unforeseen covered event.
I can't truly evaluate service since I did not (thank goodness) need to make a claim, but I appreciated the alerts and the offers of service before leaving on my trip.

Fortunately we had no need for the insurance....a good thing. Reps we spoke to on the phone were pleasant, helpful and very clear about the details. Will use it for next trip.

The claim took two months to reach a settlement. I had to call Trip Mate several times in order to get a status of the claim. The online claim status function did not provide any pertinent information. Trip Mate did not do anything with the claim for the first 30 days. The claim should have been resolved in a couple of weeks or less since I had submitted 15 documents supporting my claim. The claim was finally resolved and I did receive full payment but it took too long too finalize and was very stressful for me.

On behalf of Global Alert, we apologize for any stress that you may have felt due to the lengthy claims process. Generally Trip Mate, who handled your claim on behalf of Global Alert, does usually have a 30 day turnaround time. Unfortunately Trip Mate experienced a much higher volume of claims than anticipated after the damage inflicted by Hurricanes Irma, Jose and Maria which significantly slowed down the processing time.
