Bottom line: Seven Corners paid for our trip cancellation due to a death of a parent. That said, it took way too long. I provided all the information they asked for. Several weeks later I was told they were missing some information. The information they were missing was in the same attachment for everything else they received, but I sent it out to them again. Three more weeks go by and I have heard nothing. I call a representative who was wonderful. She stated that they were still waiting for that one piece of documentation that I had sent for the second time. She had me send it again adding her name to the subject line. That worked! She received it and got back to me immediately. Then I continued waiting for 2 more weeks, so I sent another email. Several days later, I received an email (by the way, you get an automated email response immediately that says you will hear something in 24 hours. Hah! My first email to them never got a response). This time the email said that everything was approved and that they had issued the payment. I also received a voicemail saying the same. Great! When I didn't receive the payment after a week, I called. The rep apologized for the miscommunication and that it takes 10 days. Two plus weeks later, I'm calling back. The rep checks and says that the check should go out that day. I finally received it, and as I said in my first line, I got the money, but it should have never taken that long and required all the follow ups.

We didn't use the benefits; however, if needed--I'm sure it would have been just fine. One person did get ill while we were on our cruise--I believe they were sick prior to boarding. They stayed the whole time in the infirmary area.
Yes, we'd buy trip insurance again.

Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice
I always get travel insurance when we go on a cruise, but primarily for emergency evacuation reasons. In a dozen years, this is the first time I've had to file a claim. Thankfully, it was just for baggage delay since our luggage took over 24 hours to get to us. While on the trip, I called Seven Corners and was assured that my husband and I each had $400 to spend on items that we needed. Since we were on going on a two week cruise, and didn't know if our luggage would make it to us in time, we needed a lot! When I got home, I called Seven Corners and had the very polite service agent walk me through exactly what I needed to fill out on their claim form. The claim form was far from straight forward for someone who was filing for a delay. A couple of weeks later, I received a letter in the mail saying that I didn't complete everything that I needed to fill in on the form. I phoned them to find out exactly what they were looking for since I followed the first agent's instructions to the letter. The not-so polite second agent told me that I needed to list each item with a description (53 items). I wish the agent I initially spoke to had told me that to avoid an over two month time period before getting reimbursed. I'm pleased that I finally got a check, but think the company really needs to change their claim forms to make it clear from the beginning what information they need. Their own representatives weren't even clear on what needed to be submitted.

Fortunately, we did not have any claims against the policy, but I was reminded of the importance of trip insurance several times during our cruise. We witnessed at least five medical emergencies from the start until the end of the trip. Someone was taken from the ship by ambulance before we left the pier, twice during the trip and again when we returned to Florida. We also saw a helicopter evacuation during our final day at sea. I can't imagine the costs involved, but the price of comprehensive trip insurance is small in comparison. It makes your trip more relaxing when you know this type expense is covered.
