Travel Basic is a budget friendly plan offering comprehensive trip cost protection as well as coverage for other unforeseen events that may arise during your trip. Coverages include Trip Cancellation and Interruption, Baggage Loss or Delay, Travel Delays, and Emergency Medical Evacuation. Coverage on this plan is primary, meaning you don't have to submit claims through other insurance first.

Didn't need to use the plan but the basic coverage was very good. I had an accident a month before leaving and my doctor was uncertain whether I could go -- right up until 6 days before leaving. Knowing that I had coverage to refund my out of pocket expenses removed one layer of discomfort, at least!

Usually I buy from a different insurance company & thought this one would be good for close to home travel. I asked questions of the Insure my Trip rep, who was very nice, but I either asked wrong questions or got incorrect answers. For example I had to travel thru San Juan & asked if earthquake interfered with my travel & I couldn't leave or get to my other island would I be covered & Travelex rep said NO only for a natural disaster happening at my home area & also wouldn't cover trip interruption either. There were more negative answers re coverage making this a worthless purchase for me. Luckily I didn't have to use it even though tense moments due to rain & wind whether I could leave SJO to get to my final destination.

I had a trip delay and called for guidance. While my expenses were covered by the airline I was given advice on the next step if they were not covered. No promise of payment was made but did feel supported in the process.

This was the first time we have used insuremytrip to purchase travel insurance. We always buy travel insurance because one never knows what can happen either before or during a trip. I was especially impressed when the carrier, Travelex, sent us an email inquiring if we needed help because of an earthquake at one of our destinations. We did not need any assistance but it was good knowing that they had our backs.

Fortunatey we never needed to use any portion of our policies. For this reason I cannot accurately rate any of the other questions although I do feel the prices could be a little lower considering the majority never use their policy.

The Travel Basic plan that you purchased is a Named Peril Policy, which means that the policy lists all reasons for coverage, and if the reason is not listed, then coverage does not apply.
While Natural Disasters at your destination are not covered under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interuption, you would be eligible for the Trip Delay benefit if a Natural Disaster causes a delay in your trip. The Trip Delay benefit would help reimburse for reasonable expenses; such as hotels, food, or transportation while you are delayed.
We do offer two different plans which have different levels of benefit amounts and reasons to cancel or interrupt a trip. For example, our Travel Select plan offers coverage for Trip Cancellation or Interuption if your destination is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster.
It is important to read the policy details that are sent with every quote and after the purchase of the plan to understand the policy benefits. We hope that this helps to clarify the benefits and differences between the two travel insurance plans that we offer.
