One of the primary reasons for purchasing this plan was because they supposedly provided PRIMARY medical coverage. My husband and I came down with 2 medical issues on a cruise which required seeing the ship’s doctor. When we returned home, I called AXA and requested a claim form (don’t bother sending an email. They will send an acknowledgement but won’t respond otherwise). When I reviewed the claim form, I was shocked to find that this is actually SECONDARY coverage, because coverage is only on an EXCESS BASIS, i.e, they require that you file with your primary insurer first and provide a copy of the primary insurer’s EOB. As I know that my primary insurer will not cover 100% of the medications, it means I have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to receive a very small payout from AXA. I checked Squaremouth’s website for this same policy, and it states medical coverage is PRIMARY. InsureMyTrip has NO information on this point. Buyer Beware with AXA.
