The John Hancock travel insurance plans can cover your trip just about anywhere your travels may take you. They provide plans with a wide-range of coverage for travel to domestic and international destinations and cruise trips as well.


A well-known name in insurance, John Hancock Insurance Agency, Inc., headquartered in Massachusetts, extends to travel insurance as well. They are a subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation, a leading North American-based financial services group. All travel insurance plans offered by John Hancock are underwritten by American Modern Home Insurance Company.

These plans provide insurance benefits built specifically to protect your financial investment in travel. They provide coverages that reimburse for unforeseen covered expenses while you travel – taking the stress away from the added expense of travel concerns and hiccups. Each John Hancock travel insurance plan includes non-medical evacuation benefits if you should need to be evacuated from your destination due to a catastrophe (for example: a hurricane, tsnuami, earthquake or mudslide).

Unique to John Hancock travel insurance, all three plans include Baggage Delay/ Baggage Delivery coverage. Unlike other comprehensive plans, these plans provide coverage if your common carrier charges you for your delayed or lost luggage to be delivered to your destination.

The company provides multilingual assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This can help to answer any questions you may have on your plan before, during or after your trip. John Hancock plans are built to help reimburse for unforeseen expenses due to covered reasons, but their customer assistance is designed to make that reimbursement process as smooth as possible.

Each plan has an available review period (not available in all states), that gives you 14 days to look over the plan after purchase. If you decide within those 14 days that the plan does not meet your needs, and you have not yet left for your trip or filed a claim, you can cancel the plan.

We have traveled internationally quite a bit and only recently have begun to buy travel insurance. We have never had any incidents in which we needed to file a claim until our last trip. We are pleased to report that John Hancock promptly and fairly reimbursed us for our claim. Note to everyone who will file a claim: Keep all receipts.
