We did not have to test the policy because we did not need to file a claim. But, especially traveling to a foreign country, I believe the plan would have been helpful to us if something unforeseen would have happened. It gave us peace of mind.

Yes, with hesitation. After medical emergency, we had to go home. There were very responsive and continually checked on us. They did buy us tickets home, although the process was difficult because their first few proposals had terribly long travel and transfer plans and no way to put feet up, as doctor ordered. Finally, they came up with good connections and business class. They did reimburse medical expenses that our own policy did not and reimbursed lost deposits. The Doctor ordered rest before return, and they refused to cover hotel/food costs and taxi to airport for this, saying these things weren't medical expenses and also weren't covered expenses under the trip interruption part of the policy. This amounted to about $400-$500 that they refused to reimburse even though the expenses were caused by my husband's illness. The process of reimbursement took 4-1/2 months even though I promptly provided all of their documentation.

I would never consider traveling without having Travel Guard insurance. It is a source of comfort when leaving home. Odd things happen when traveling. The Silver plan works very well for us, and we're grateful that it didn't have to be used. We're repeat customers, and will always use Travel Guard.

Thank you for providing feedback on your policy. In calculating premium, insurance providers use the following information: the cost of the trip, the ages of the travelers, and the length of travel. In general, comprehensive policies cost 4%-10% of your total pre-paid, nonrefundable trip cost. For example, if you purchase a trip with a total cost of $5,000, the travel insurance policy should cost less than $500.Jan 06,2015
An InsureMyTrip Customer Advocate was assigned to seek reimbursement for the hotels, meals, and local transportation expenses as a result of the injury. Unfortunately, none of the benefits provided in the Travel Guard Silver plan would cover those expenses for the event that occurred.
