I filed a claim for trip interruption, because I contracted Covid during my trip, and had to leave my tour. Generali denied my claim, because I wasn't sick enough to require treatment by a physician or medical facility (they require documentation of such). So I had a trip interruption, but Generali's policy is written in such a way as to deny my claim. Read the entire policy that you are purchasing, and make sure you follow it to the letter, or you will not be properly compensated by Generali.

I almost had to use the plan, which would have covered the trip. Fortunately, that didn't happen and we were able to go and enjoy. I would definitely look at Generali for my next vacation.

Generali insisted that we could not receive reimbursement after cancellation due to a medical condition. The condition was a sudden increase in falls while walking that occurred around the beginning of May , end of April. The treatment needed was purchase and use of a cane, prescribed by a physical therapist. Doctor visit was not necessary, although we did follow up later with the doctor, after cancelling the trip. I consider the refusal of coverage to have been borderline fraudulent.

Luckily I had no reason to file a claim, as my 15-day trip went smoothly, so I have no experience in having any issues or losses addressed by Insuremytrip. The online application process was quick and easy, and the price was reasonable, so I will likely use this company again.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
We bought the plan due to the risk of contracting COVID and having to shorten or not participate in the Netherlands Bike Barge trip. The Barge company. had a strict covid testing protocol. My wife contracted nonsystematic covid (determined by rapid test) near the end of the 13 night trip and we had to leave the barge one day and two nights early. Missing the final day and night of activities we had to find Hotel accommodations and rent a car for an additional two days at considerable expense. We would have qualified for filing a claim except for the requirement to obtain a PCR test. We attempted to schedule the test in Amsterdam and the Barge management confirmed the extreme difficulties in finding and scheduling the test. As a result the insurance had no real value as in our circumstance.
