The Voyager Choice is a single-trip Medical plan which offers emergency medical coverage while you are traveling abroad. This plan does require you to have primary health insurance in place, but there is no exclusion for pre-existing conditions. With this plan, you have the ability to select the medical limit and also the deductible amount that you are most comfortable with.

The sales representative was very helpful and had a lot of patience when answering my questions and helping pick the right plan.

GeoBlue Voyager Choice
The plan gave me a level of comfort knowing I had coverage, or at least purchased coverage. However, while being in Japan I began to realize that it would not be very easy to go to a suggested provider of services in the event I needed it. Almost all transportation in Japan is by bus, train, etc. I have no idea about the cost of a taxi. I actually didn't even see one. My only point is be aware that getting to a provider will not be as easy as it might seem which means you may (or may not) be responsible for the costs anyway.

We felt more secure having coverage on our 7 week trip to New Zealand and Australia. Thankfully we didn’t need to use it.

I had no claims. It was easy to purchase. I liked the app because it helps file claims if needed, get prepayment authorization and find providers. It also sends notices of places to avoid because of unrest.

I thought I was covered for necessary expenses incurred for luggage that was delayed for 4 and and a half days of a five day trip to France. When I called about filing a claim, I was informed that the policy only covered lost luggage, which was not clearly stated in the policy.

I have used GeoBlue several times in the past, but this was the first occasion where I had a need to file a claim.

GeoBlue has authored the following: "The GeoBlue Voyager Choice plan provides the following benefit for Baggage or Personal Effects. The policy description contains the following language which is provided on the plan overview webpage and inside the Member Services section of the site.

    'If Baggage or Personal Effects are lost, damaged or stolen, the Company will pay the loss, up to the maximum amount indicated on the Benefit Overview Matrix, provided You have taken all reasonable measures to protect, save and/or recover Your property at all times.'

    Members are encouraged to register their policies at www.geobluetravelinsurance.com to access policy documents and the provider search tool."

    Apparently you did not need to file a claim. If you had needed coverage, your GeoBlue Voyager Choice plan would have provided a medical limit of 50,000 USD per person. Although you selected the lowest limit, you also had the following options available to you for an additional premium as shown in parenthesis:

    100,000 USD (+ 2.64) (secondary)
    500,000 USD (+7.26) (secondary)
    1,000,000 USD (+7.92) (secondary)

    Your Medical coverage was Secondary which will pay only after any other Primary collectible insurance has paid the claim and the Primary policies' limits have been exhausted.

    Your GeoBlue Voyager plan also states that "Pre-existing conditions are covered under this plan as any other condition, subject to the terms and exclusions listed in the policy."
