Generali Global Assistance Premium
While on our trip, we got some scratches on the side of our vehicle while traveling in the United Kingdom. We were charged around $870 by the rental company for damages. The claim process was straightforward and easy to understand. Though I didn't hear anything back for about 3 weeks, the only correspondence I got was confirmation that my claim was approved and the check was in the mail. Easy enough.

My only minor complaint is that they wouldn't cover the administrative fee charged by the rental company, so technically they only paid out about $800 of the $870 I had to pay. Still, it's technically stated that way in the agreement, so I don't have much room to gripe.

I have bought this protection a few times before. It provides the overall protection and peace of mind I needed for our trips. The email communication was appropriate and straightforward. This insurance provides more coverage than flight insurance for a reasonable price.

I am basing this review on the fact that the plan had the coverage I was after - emergency medical and evacuation, trip cancellation, and pre-existing conditions waiver if purchased within 24 hrs of final travel payment. The plan also had a large number of positive reviews which also influenced my decision to get it.

Premium for comprehensive polices are calculated based on: the pre-paid and non-refundable trip cost, the length of the trip, and the ages of the travelers. The CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe plan tends to have a higher premium because it is a benefit rich policy, with high limits of coverage and a generous list of covered reasons for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Travel Delay. CSA Travel Protection also assumes a bigger risk for offering the pre-existing conditions waiver, if purchased within 24 hours of making the final trip payment/deposit.

I was very pleased with the CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe plan. Most insurers do not deliver your luggage to you, but CSA says it does. This is important because airlines only deliver your luggage to you if you're still in the town you flew into or to the nearest large, commercial airport that they fly into. This doesn't help much if you're not near a big airport when they find your lost/delayed bags. Also, CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe requires that the luggage be delayed 12 hours versus 24 hours for most other companies. They also include rental care insurance. More coverage for a lower cost all around!

    Thank you for feedback on the policy. Here is an excerpt from the policy regarding Baggage Delay:

    We will reimburse you, up to the amount shown in the Schedule, for the cost of reasonable additional clothing and personal articles purchased by you, if your Baggage
    is delayed for 12 hours or more during your Trip. We will reimburse you up to the amount shown in the Schedule for expenses incurred during your Trip to locate/track your delayed Baggage, and to retrieve your delayed Baggage or to have your delayed Baggage delivered to you. We will also reimburse you for the cost to launder your clothing during the time your Baggage is delayed.

    The rental car coverage on the plan is a collision damage waiver. Please check with the rental car to company to make sure they accept third party insurance.
