We buy trip insurance every time we travel and thankfully, have never had to use it. This trip I tried to use it as the flight we were booked on coming back from Spain was overbook. We could not get on. All our luggage was on it's way to the USA at that point!
I called to see if the travel insurance could help us and was informed I would have to pay for everything up front and file a claim. It would have been nice if we could of at least shown receipts and our credit card credited. We were talking about $1,000.00's of dollars, with air fare etc added to our personal account after spending 19 days away.
Just seems like there should be an easier way.

Thank you very much for your excellent suggestions which we shared with iTravelInsured. Although there is always the possibility that the travel insurance industry may adopt similar ideas in the future, at this time travel insurance plans offer trip protection on a reimbursement basis which require that you pay up front and submit your receipts for reimbursement at a future date.Nov 25,2019

I did not have any claims so I have no opinion on that aspect. The only time you find out how good your insurance is, is when you have a claim.

We did not file a claim during this trip, however, we did on our previous trip with IMG. We were on a 20 day cruise and my wife came down with a respiratory infection which required attention by the medical staff on board. The cost of the medical services on board were very high. IMG reimbursed the full cost of the medical bills within three weeks of our filing. We did have some assistance from the cruise staff but the filing was very smooth and the IMG staff were very helpful and understanding.

I don't have much of an opinion because I didn't have to use any aspect of the insurance. The plan seemed fine but as I didn't use it, I don't know how easy it would be to have to file a claim.

Would not travel without a policy! Too
Many things can happen. On a previous trip to Grand Caman. My paraplegic nephew broke his femur in a fall from his wheelchair. Our policy sent a nurse from Miami who oversaw his medical care and arranged and accompanied his transfer back New York and then home to Phildelphia for his care and treatment.

As I never had occasion to file a claim, it’s next to impossible to evaluate the company and its policies. But with a 90 year old mother and with me now being on Medicare, any foreign travel requires such insurance- preferably ‘insure for any risk’ in order to cover pre-existing conditions- and to provide both medical and automobile liability insurance for myself and any friends accompanying me.

Thank you for your feedback. Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but is very rare for any insurance plan to cover all possible risks.
With this plan, the exclusion for Pre-Existing Condition will be waived provided:
a) Your Payment or Deposit for this Policy and enrollment form are received within 24 hours of the final Payment for Your Trip or before the final Payment for Your Trip; and
b) You are not disabled from travel at the time Your premium is paid.
For your state of residence, this policy covers 500,000USD per person in Medical.
While this policy does have 40,000USD in Rental Car coverage, it would not cover liability, as that would be an exclusion on all travel insurance policies offered on our site.
