I wouldn't buy Nationwide Travel Insurance again. Terrible customer service, almost no communication with me, you are in the dark when you submit a claim. Took 4 days, 2 emails, and a phone call to figure out how to submit a claim--they apparently want to make it as hard a possible. And they need every documentation under the sun for your claim submission, so SAVE EVERY piece of paperwork, boarding passes, itinerary and receipts. After submitting the claim I never heard from them until I received a check 7 weeks later. We had a major trip delay and discovered after the fact that our Trip Delay Coverage doesn't actually cover trip delays--just expenses occurred during a trip delay. I'll read the fine print before buying any insurance next time.

We were on a cruise with a tight schedule and limited access to internet. We had a flight delay that caused us to miss a prepaid tour which would have been a covered loss under our policy. However, the policy required that we make a written claim within 7 days of the claimed loss. We missed that deadline.
It's my own fault for not reading and understanding the requirements. However, I believe that this requirement is completely unreasonable -- especially for a TRAVEL policy.
Buyer beware!

While I didn’t need to use the insurance it was great knowing we had it … just in case. I was very pleasantly surprised at the cost for all that was covered. I’ll be purchasing again in July for another trip!

The insurance product was fairly comprehensive and I was reassured having it. It was not cheap, but not prohibitive either. I will really never know anything about service until I have to submit a claim, which has never happened to date, thank goodness.
