It was worth getting insurance for the piece of mind it gave us traveling in a foreign country. One person in our group had her flight cancelled the morning she was to leave. Her insurance will pay for the additional night lodging and other expenses incurred as a result of the cancellation.

The plan was good value for the price. I did not put a claim in, but will use this service again for any future travel insurance needs.

I purchased travel insurance through InsureMyTrip (policy was with WorldTrips - Atlas Journey). I highly recommend this policy as you will see in my review below, as we had a medical emergency and successfully filed a claim.

While traveling in Italy in late May of this year (2024), with my wife and two small children (under age 3), my wife fell and fractured her pelvis. We promptly went to a regional Sicilian hospital for diagnosis and treatment, where she was recommended 30 days bed rest with no movement off of her back.

I immediately called the number on the policy, which directed me through On Call International, the "Travel Risk Management & Emergency Assistance Solutions" coordinator contracted by World Trips.

Long story short:

It took ~48 hours for On Call International to:
- obtain medical records,
- review internally and meet with medical team,
- approve emergency medical evacuation with the insurer (World Trips),
- coordinate Air Ambulance (Reva Air),
- coordinate admittance to hospital near our home,
- and fully schedule the return itinerary

About a total of 4 days after initially contacting World Trips, we were on a plane home.

It's worth noting that we had $1,000,000 in "Medical Evacuation & Repatriation" coverage on this policy. If I had to guess, the air ambulance alone was 1/4 of that.

Additionally, they approved all of our trip interruption claims (approx $3,000 of non-refundable hotels, plane tickets, etc.)

The emergency management contractors I worked with in coordinating our repatriation (OnCallInternational, and the air ambulance company Reva Air) were excellent providers and advocated for us. I spent many hours on the phone coordinating everything, and they were always available. The repatriation was complicated by my wife's condition, and the fact that we had an 8 month old baby and 3 year old toddler, were located 3 hours from the airport, and numerous other factors.

World Trips honored the policy and provided us with all of the coverage described in the policy documents. Additionally, they quickly processed our trip interruption claims (that took 4-6 weeks to fully process)

Always buy travel insurance! It's cheap! Let me know if you have any questions.

What's happening to American insurance companies? Did they run out of money?
Literally waiting over 3 months already, and the company doesn't update me.
No info, nothing new, I don't think they've even reviewed my claim.
It must be some kind of stalling technique, they just don't review the claims.
They are not obliged to pay it, or to come to a verdict.

Even if the claim has all the right documents. If it was assessed by any other company, it would pass, and they would have to settle.

Yeah, I got no idea what's going out with American insurance companies.

They ran out of money.

And by the way, my claim is under 1000 USD lol... and they can't settle it in almost 4 months?

Absolutely pathetic.

Stay away from this company. And in general choose European insurance companies.
European companies they'll review and settle your claim in 1-2 weeks.

Absolutely pathetic experience with worldtrips.com

Purchased buy did not need it. It was a comfort to have in place if an emergency had occurred.

The only thing I didn't like about the plan was that I was forced to pay $400 more than I should have because I had to purchase "cancel for any reason" because I suffer from mental illness. Atlas covers for mental health l if "If I were hospitalized for 48 hours" and even at that would only get 75% back. . I recently had a depressive episode for which I received 48 ECT outpatient treatments at McClean Hospital. My psychiatrist at McLean Hospital told me that if I had a bout that necessitated canceling my trip, he would indeed submit a letter saying it was medically necessary I cancel as my illness is due to sudden chemical imbalances that happen. I was granted Social Security disability when I had to reluctantly retire from my 30 year teaching career at age 52, so this is no fake illness. In fact, I would venture to say it is illegal that I wouldn't me granted a 100% refund if I just purchased the regular insurance. In the case of my Bermuda cruise, the quote differential was from about $298 to about $698... Please tell me that when I plan my next cruise, I can get plain Medical Insurance! I am planning another cruise for Feb.

It's hard to say whether one chose the correct plan or was satisfied with the coverage unless one has to use it.

We have used insuremytrip.com for purchasing trip insurance for years. Fortunately, we have never had to file a claim until now. We had our car broken in to. Our daughter's passport, drivers license, and other travel items were stolen the night before our international trip. There was no time or means to get a replacement passport and only one flight per week to our destination. This was why we bought trip insurance.

WorldTrips had a clever out to avoid paying our claim. Anything that is not in the list of covered items or circumstances was not covered.

I will not be using WorldTrips again.

Thankfully, I did not need to use the plan on this trip. However, it gave me peace of mind to know that we had coverage if a medical issue arose. I will definitely purchase coverage from this company for all my future trips.
