Due to covid-19 outbreaks, my trip was cancelled by the airline and resort. Travelex denied my trip interruption claim. Other than the fact that it took 3 months for them to get back to me (after multiple inquires) but I was looking for a credit towards a future trip - not necessarily a refund. Nowhere was I given that option that BTW my traveling friend who used another insurance company was offered. I will NOT be using Travelex again!!

This plan is GARBAGE, did not cover my cruise that was cancelled by the cruise line, did not cover lost air, hotels, NOTHING. Did not even offer me a credit of the premium for another future trip. Don't waste your money on this plan.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
They have dragged their feet from the beginning of the claims process. I know it's COVID but my trip was in mid March, I didn't get to take it. I filed my claim in March. It's July. Still no refund for my cancel for any reason plan. Now they've pawned me off on the airline to try to get my own refund. I am thoroughly disappointed. Not sure why I even paid them for the policy if i have to do all the leg work myself. They have been fighting me every step of the way. Making me resubmit paperwork more than once. Telling me i was being "escalated" to a faster service and it's gets slower and more round about as it goes. I think they're hoping I give up on my money but I absolutely resuse. I want my money back. I'll NEVER EVER use them again and I don't recommend them to anyone else.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare
I purchased the plan after I made the final payment on a 32 day cruise. I wanted to protect the cost of the cruise ($70K)) in case one of our elderly parents became ill that might make us need to cancel the trip. But on the cruise, I caught an upper respiratory infection that turned into acute bronchitis. I ended up needing multiple visits to the ship’s doctor which resulted in $5400 bill. My Medicare supplement includes 80% coverage outside of the US. After I was reimbursed the 80%, I filed with Berkshire Hathaway for the remaining 20% and they covered it. I didn’t purchase the policy for the medical coverage but I sure was happy that it included it. It’s coverage was secondary because I did not purchase the policy when I made my initial deposit. Filing was straight forward via their website.
They have a checklist of all documentation required so there was no communication needed after I sent in the package. It did take a couple of months for reimbursement as I filed during Covid-19 pandemic.
I plan to use this company for all future travel that I want to insure. Their price for coverage was much less than that offered by the cruise line. Next time I plan to purchase it when I make my initial trip deposit.
I feel confident in purchasing from this company and highly recommend it.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Took nine months to get the claim settled with constant requests for additional medical documentation. I had a total knee replacement. Heard nothing from C&F from January thru May.
The real result came after an Insure My Trip customer advocate assisted me in getting C & F to respond to my claim. Within 3 weeks I had my claim settled. Thank you IMT for the great service.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Deluxe
Obviously the insurance companies are overwhelmed, but there was absolutely no way that I could contact AIG to ask a simple question. I filed the claim online but all of the forms asked for a claim number. Finally I decided to file without a claim number only to discover that the number is assigned only after all of the electronic documents are uploaded. This could have been easily handled by the customer care team, but after two weeks I still have no answer.

The claim was finally settled but my assessment remains the same. The company should have updated the website that assured me that my inquiry would be answered promptly. This expectation caused at least a week of unnecessary delay.

My wife broke her arm in India. I called the company from India...they were unhelpful and wanted me to complete forms! That was ridiculous...how do you complete forms from India.

    We would like to take this opportunity to clarify how On Call International, Travelex’s travel assistance company, offers assistance for medical emergencies that present themselves on a covered trip. On Call’s medical case process requires all patients to be evaluated by a treating physician and to have the medical information reviewed by On Call’s Medical Team to help ensure patient’s safety, in order to assist the traveler. On Call’s Medical Team specializes in flight physiology and follows guidelines set forth by the International Air Medical Transport Association and the Aerospace Medical Association to determine a patient’s fit to fly status as patient’s conditions may change at elevation. While the medical case management and fit to fly approval process can seem overwhelming, the process is important to ensure a patient is safe enough to travel home. "

Had to cancel my trip for a surgical procedure. Contacting them was pretty painless and all of the follows were prompt. Instructions were pretty straight forward. Did have to submit additional than what I originally submitted but it made sense and was pretty easy to get. Took a bit longer to process because of Covid but overall excellent experience and I will absolutely purchase another policy from them.

My trip was cancelled due to COVID-19 and I lost money on some VRBO places. This company took 3 months to work my claim before denying it. They said COVID-19 wasn't a natural disaster. Worst company ever. Won't ever do business with this insurance company again. Avoid this company. I will file a complaint with the California Department of Insurance.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Agents suggest you take out the policy several months in advance. Cruise and flight cancelled, but rebooked at a cheaper cost. Insure my trip Nationwide refused any refund saying I only had 10 days to cancel or change Poilicy. Cruise line and air carrier gave refunds for price difference, not Nationwide! They took advantage of the situation! Will NEVER use Insure my Trip Nationwide again!

    We are sorry to learn that your trip was postponed. Fortunately, Nationwide Mutual Insurance was able to transfer your policy to the new travel dates at no additional cost. You are correct in that most comprehensive travel insurance policies have a review period, typically 10-15 days from the date you purchase the plan, depending on the state you live in. The Nationwide Essential plan in your state of residence has a 10 day review period in which insureds are able to cancel the policy or make any changes that would result in a premium refund.
