I didn't need to use the plan, although I had a skin rash that tempted me. Compared to other plans, the I noted with your plan is that you didn't send a reminder a couple weeks in advance of the lapse of the two months I purchased, offering the chance to extend the coverage. I think it would be wise to do that as an increased marketing idea.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We hope that the following response provides a clear explanation of why you did not receive a renewal notification prior to the policy termination date.

    The InsureandGo Global Platinum plan is a Comprehensive travel insurance plan. Comprehensive plans cannot be extended or renewed by the insured person after the scheduled departure date. In most cases, comprehensive policies can be amended prior to the scheduled departure date.

I was fortunate enough to not have to use my coverage. I now live in Vietnam, never having returned to the US, and was very disappointed to learn that I could not re-enroll or extend my coverage.

I used this company to insure a pretty expensive bicycle tour. Half way through the 6-month trip I had to leave for a family emergency that was a "covered benefit." I was able to file a claim and recoup a significant portion of my money. The most irksome part of this company is that their policy is poorly written and it is extremely difficult to know exactly what will be covered in an emergency. Part of my claim was denied because I misread just a few words of the policy when I bought it, thus I wish the policy was more clear. Overall, the insurance was way less expensive than any other policy, and they covered what otherwise would have been a huge loss.

This company will provide medical help at no cost to the insured but you have to ask. I did not realize this so I made my own arrangements which was repaid within a reasonable time after I submitted my claim. I was very satisfied with the service provided.

    The Platinum policy states under the
    EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE that "Our multi‐lingual professionals are available 24 hours a day to provide help, advice and referrals for medical emergencies. We will help You locate local physicians, dentists, or medical facilities.

    If you require medical assistance please call us immediately. We will coordinate medical services that you require during Your covered trip including admission to medical facility, guarantee of funds for admission, notifying family members, and medical evacuation and transportation services if required."

    Should you call the 24 hr Assist company and it is not a medical emergency, InsureandGo will find a provider in the area network, so that the insured has no out of pocket expense. If the condition is unstable and they need immediate medical assistance, they will find the closest provider (whether in or out of network) and they may be able to pay on the insured's behalf, otherwise, it is reimbursable.

    Of course, if the assistance company is not notified and the insured makes arrangements on their own, medical expenses will be on a reimbursement basis, if a payable claim. As you indicated, this is what happened in your situation, but had you called the assistance company prior to seeking medical treatment, they would have set you up with an in network provider and paid directly for you.
