New Year’s Eve is a chance for the whole world to celebrate together. From the land down under — to the city that never sleeps — here’s how countries plan to ring in the New Year.

In Edinburg, the celebration begins early. Starting December 30, the crowds start to form for a firework kick-off from Parliament Square all the way to Calton Hill. The fun continues for the next few days with a street party, torchlight procession, concerts and events. Photo credit: edinburghshogmanay.com.
