Originally, the trip I was purchasing had an optional rider for trip insurance that offered less coverage than my AXA plan for a more expensive rate. After research, I found AXA. I worked a customer service rep to find the right plan for me. I was able to get excellent coverage for a fantastic rate. Then, when everything went wrong with the trip, the reps I spoke to in my attempt to file my multiple claims were amazing! They went out of their way to help me in the process and direct me in the documentation gathering phase. Although the claim process took about a month, the claim was handling fairly with a lot of assistance. I will ALWAYS use AXA for my future insurance needs.

I wish the cost were lower, but.............that being said..................there is comfort it knowing that at 80 years old, I can still travel . As careful as I try to be, things can happen. I would not travel out of the USA without it . I have never had to use it...................but then.................I do not want to.

I missed my connecting flight due to a trip delay from another flight in. I ended up having to stay in another city for two nights and then buy another one way ticket to my final destination. At first when I spoke with the representive at this company they had said it shouldn't be a problem resolving this claim. I sent in all the necessary paperwork on the eligible claim and was eventually reimbursed on the entire loss after having to make many phone calls and jump through multiple hoops with AXA. It's a good plan, but be prepared to not get reimbursed for your entire claim unless you jump through multiple hoops and spend several hours calling on the phone with them.

Trip insurance is very expensive in light of the time used. Being retired those extra cost are not needed on a very limited budget. We have no health issues, but we pay the same amount as everyone else. Duh!

My cell phone was stolen while changing trains in Naples Italy. We reported this to the ticket office and filled out a report but did not have time to get a copy. When I filed a claim for it, AXA wanted a police report which, being back in the states, could not be obtained. I showed them emails suspending my service with Verizon and having Samsung disable my phone. You can not talk to an adjuster just someone in customer service and they can only read your file to you. I paid over $600 for the insurance and was only asking to be reimbursed $175. BAD, BAD!!!

    We have received the following response from AXA Assistance USA:

    "We appreciate the feedback you have provided. We are sorry to learn you weren’t completely satisfied with your purchase. Unfortunately, when filing a claim for stolen personal effects, a police report is required as stated in the benefit description of your policy. In the future, you may call us during your trip so we may assist you in clarifying policy benefits and with the claims process prior to incurring additional costs. We sincerely hope you will consider us again for future travels."

    This is an industry standard procedure regarding stolen personal property with travel insurance.
