Travel Channel online editors admit they dream of a white Christmas, warming up near the fireplace and a view of the slopes. In their Coziest Winter Getaway roundup, editors opted for the slopes.

WHERE: Colorado
WHY: Travel Channel editors chose this ski-friendly state for its mountainous scenery and cozy resorts like the Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer Lodge in Telluride where rooms are draped in warm autumn colors and a log is burning not too far away. Even for those who don’t ski, editors say the resort is still ideal for those who want to warm up in the face of a cold winter.
