Obviously the insurance companies are overwhelmed, but there was absolutely no way that I could contact AIG to ask a simple question. I filed the claim online but all of the forms asked for a claim number. Finally I decided to file without a claim number only to discover that the number is assigned only after all of the electronic documents are uploaded. This could have been easily handled by the customer care team, but after two weeks I still have no answer. The claim was finally settled but my assessment remains the same. The company should have updated the website that assured me that my inquiry would be answered promptly. This expectation caused at least a week of unnecessary delay.
