Nationwide Universal Cruise

The Nationwide Universal Cruise plan is only available to people who will be traveling on a cruise during their trip. It is well suited for those who will be traveling up to 30 days with family or friends.

This plan is specifically built for the unique needs you’ll have if you are going on a cruise. Because of this, there are some benefits that are not typically included in comprehensive plans. For instance, Return Home Early coverage allows you to abandon your cruise for any reason, and provides transportation costs up to $250 in order to get home. See quoted plan for eligibility requirements and full coverage details. Some state residencies will not allow this coverage.

More specific coverages include (available in most states):

  • Pre-Paid Excursion Reimbursement – If the cruise line changes your itinerary after your departure and you have secured pre-paid, non-refundable excursions, this plan will provide a one-time reimbursement up to $250.
  • Missed Connection - If inclement weather causes a delay due to a covered reason for between 3 to 6 hours of all regularly scheduled airlines and you miss your cruise departure, this plan will reimburse up to $500 for expenses to help you rejoin your ship (varies by state).

The Universal Cruise plan also includes important coverage such as trip cancellation and trip interruption. If you need to cancel prior to departure or interrupt after departure for a covered reason. The plan also features benefits like travel delay, missed connection, baggage coverage, medical, and emergency medical evacuation coverage to list a few.

Just hope you don't have to file a claim! We paid nearly a thousand dollars for a policy that contains MAJOR exclusions written in the fine print about stolen baggage - both a long list of items and conditions under which they will not cover a loss. We specifically chose a plan with baggage protection, only to be told a month after our claim was filed they would not cover our loss because our travel bags were stolen from a locked car. Find another insurance company that does not play this kind of game with customers to avoid paying for situations you may find yourself in through no fault of your own. Made a rotten travel experience even worse to know the insurance you purchased was worthless.

I’m very happy I had this insurance. Very happy I did not need to use it.

FIrst time I had to use my travel insurance I had two canceled flights and had to stay overnight. I used this insurance to cover part of my costs. Air Canada refused to cover my entire hotel cost after having to stay overnight. It was easy to submit a claim. Not a long wait and I received an email for additional documentation (just my original boarding passes). Wasn't a long wait after that, I received a check for the amount I requested.
