Never made cruise because of flight cancellation. Found out that is not part of coverage for claim. If you do have covered claim you must go through hoops and garner mounds of paperwork to satisfy insurance company

Fortunately I did not need to file a claim. I was at peace knowing that if anything happened while on my cruise, I would be covered by Nationwide. This travel policy was very reasonable.

I was satisfied with the coverage and the cost of the plan, however, the true measure of satisfaction with any plan is satisfaction with a claim and customer service when making a claim. Fortunately, we did not need to make a claim. But overall, Nationwide offered very good coverage at a reasonable cost.

Thank you for your feedback. Nationwide Mutual offers 3 levels of cruise plans, Universal Cruise, Choice Cruise and Luxury Cruise plans. If you had purchased the policy prior to or on the date of final payment, you would have been eligible for several time sensitive benefits including but not limited to the pre-existing condition waiver and the optional Cancel for Any Reason coverage that are available on the Choice and Luxury Cruise plans.
Having this policy gave me peace of mind in knowing that if something happened to my elderly mother or others in my family (I'm not a spring chicken myself) I could cancel my trip.

Bought the most expensive plan with the most coverage for a cruise I was taking. A port was canceled and a friend who also had a Nationwide policy said her plan had coverage for that and she’d be reimbursed $500. Her plan cost half what mine did and my plan didn’t cover that!!! Couldn’t be more disappointed. I’ll be sure to check the cheaper plans next time. Dont assume the “best” is the best. I called Nationwide and the rep couldn’t explain it and left me completely dissatisfied and thoroughly annoyed.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your Nationwide Luxury Cruise policy which did not include "Port of Call Change - Prior to Departure - 500 USD".
However, it is important to understand that travel insurance is state specific so coverage may vary considerably from state to state to comply with their insurance statutes. Since you reside in the State of New York, that coverage was not available to you. This information would have been evident when quoting and purchasing your policy since we include a summary of available coverage along with a copy of the Certificate of Insurance with every plan.
In the future, if you are looking for guidance in selecting a travel insurance plan, please consider contacting our office at 800-487-4722 where a licensed representative would be happy to assist you.
Luckily we did not have to use or file a claim so I’m not sure how that part would have gone or how easy it would have been to receive reimbursement.
