Speaking from experience: NEVER travel without travel insurance! In 16 years I have had 3 claims and without insurance I would have been out $9000 +. I've used Nationwide several times for our needs. Great plan, thorough coverage at a fair price. Hopefully I won't need to file anymore claims, but we travel easier knowing we are covered from delays to baggage loss to cancellations.

We ALWAYS buy our insurance for the trips we plan through insuremytrip.com because we have lots of choices in all price ranges and we save a good deal of money versus insuring our trip through the ship/rental agency etcetc. It has saved us a lot of money through the years. And at our age (71&66) we must have trip insurance and saving money is all about smart living and planning our next adventure. Highly recommend the site.
We have not ever had to file a claim so can't comment on that but that's the purpose of insurance - in the event you have a crisis and need help!

The plan itself looked good howerver, We did get into a pickle with a flight delay and almost didn't make our cruise. We were not sure if the insurance would cover the missed cruise/air fair do to airline delays of a runway being shut down in San Francisco. Tried to call customer service which didn't know anything. Said we had to call claims which is only open business hours monday-friday. WAS NOT HELPFUL. Need a 24 hour 7 days help/ claims line since customer no service knows nothing. We had to buy another ticket on a different airline, extra expense we didn't need, but we made it.

Very satisfied. Three days before our cruise we had a medical emergency and need to cancel our 12 day cruise. We called claims and were given a claim number, with directions on what was needed to file the claim. Sent all needed paperwork in an email with a PDF file to claims. We received 2 checks in the mail approximately 3 weeks later, minus port taxes that Royal Caribbean refunded. Thank you Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. We purchased the Essential Plan coverage.
