Trip was cancelled due to hurricane Irma. All expenditures were reimbursed by airlines, car rental, etc. No need to process a claim.

Our problem was simple and not costly. Our luggage was delayed 36 hours on a trip to Ireland. We filed a claim (with all documentation) for $119 for items we had to purchase while awaiting our luggage. We received a terse generic email acknowledging receipt of our claim shortly after filing. And we finally did receive a check for $119 a little over one month later. I don't mind a one month processing time HOWEVER there was no further communication from the company during that period, leaving us wondering what was going on. They should do an update email occasionally during the claim processing. Hopefully, there is better communication if someone has a serious issue while traveling.

Allianz Global Assistance Basic
In February 2017 I bought both land and air insurance coverage for a proposed August trip to Ireland. That trip was cancelled. I was told if I submitted multiple documents proving the cancellation of that trip from my airline and tour company and gave all info re policy numbers, etc., I could apply the insurance to a subsequent trip. I provided all documents to Insure my Trip. In September I asked that the air policy be applied to a one-week trip Oct 10-17 from Florida to Arizona. Once again I was asked to supply multiple verifications from land and air suppliers to prove the original Ireland trip was cancelled. When I said those verifications had already been submitted, I was told there was no record of them. So I again sent multiple documents via email the beginning of October. By my Oct. 10 departure date I had heard nothing. When I returned to Florida on Oct. 17, in my email inbox was a notice dated Oct. 16, the day before the end of my trip, that my insurance for that trip had been written. What a joke. I shall never do business with Insure my trip or Allianze Global Assistance again.

    Thank you for your feedback on your Allianz policy. We were sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with the process to transfer the policy to a new trip. Unfortunately, your request to amend the travel dates was not requested until October 4tth which was after your original policy expired. Since no changes can be made to an expired policy, your request was sent to the Allianz underwriters to allow an exception. The company approved the changes to your policy on October 16th. Nevertheless, Allianz did confirm that you were covered for your new travel dates of October 10, 2017 to October 17, 2017 if there was a loss.

    We certainly understand that this must have been a frustrating process. However, please be assured that your policy was in place for your new trip in case you needed to file a claim.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare
The plan was easy to buy and there seemed to be no issues. I cannot comment any further as we did not have one problem that the plan covered. In fact our trip was absolutely trouble free. All I can say is that having this plan did provide peace of mind while we were traveling.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
