we purchased this plan because my husband always seems to throw a stone on multiple vacations when we are in the middle of nowhere. Last time, on the north rim of the Grand Canyon with no hospital to be able to do the surgery within 4 hours. The fact that we were going to Alaska and the Yukon scared me to death. He did pass a stone while on the cruise ship but without needing a hospital. BUT, what if he did. I was glad we had the backup, it gave us peace of mind so we could enjoy our vacation

I took this plan to be safe in case we had problems on our trip, going so far from home. Unfortunately we were unable to go due to me ending up in hospital. Our condo was nonrefundable, but they did refund our money without penalty. So what we lost was the amount we paid for the insurance.

When I called for medical assistance, the rep was slow and confused. She kept asking me for the same information. I ended up asking my hotel manager for help. He drove me to a nearby clinic he knew about. I don't understand why the rep could not have recommended the same. I'm just glad it was a relatively minor medical issue.

On my return trip from Toronto ON, my flight to Bangor was cancelled. I was not sure if my insurance would cover a night in a hotel in NYC so did not get a hotel room. Would I have been covered. Delta Airlines cancelled the flight due to weather but others told me the plane was at the airport but Delta did not have a crew and blamed the cancellation on weather. (this was for Sunday, March 20 @ 9:59pm.

The InsureandGo Global Silver plan does include a Trip Delay benefit up to 100 USD per day / 250 USD maximum if you are delayed en route to or from the Covered Trip for six (6) or more hours due to a defined Hazard. Covered Expenses for Trip Delay includes additional hotel accommodations, meals, telephone calls and local transportation while you were delayed. Any delay of a Common Carrier (including Inclement Weather) is included in the definition of Hazard.

Good to have a medical plan while traveling outside the of the United States, since Medicare does not cover outside of the U.S. Have used InsureMyTrip for several years when I go to Canada, as I do every summer around this time period.
