I was unsatisfied with the slow speed of processing our claim (two months) and the settlement. The company denied the airfare cost of my family of four returning home early from our Irish vacation because two of our party came down with pneumonia. They did pay for the medical and lodging costs due to an air delay, but not the cost of the additional airfare to cut our trip short, which was the bulk of our claim. I travel a lot and purchase trip insurance regularly. The one thing I purchase insurance for is hassle free coverage and timeliness. IMG fell short in both regards. This is the first time i have used IMG and it will be the last.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Had a minor medical urgent care incident but the hassle of getting all the required documentation from the Moroccan clinic to be used in filing a claim wasn't feasible - and the total cost of the service was about $45. I thought about filing anyway just to see how it would get handled, but figured it would be a waste of my time and the company's time - there are more effective things for both of us to do!

Fortunately we did not have to make use of the plan benefits. Reason for choosing this plan is the medical coverage -- it is primary and also provides a maximum medical benefit of $ 500,000. Great coverage for a retiree on Medicare traveling outside the US.

My luggage was lost for 2 days after I arrived in Helsinki. I did not file a claim at that point but was preparing to when I received notice that the airline was delivering my bag to me. It would have been a hassle to have to take time from my trip plans to replace my items but I'm sure you would have been there for me if I needed it.

I buy insurance as a back-up plan and am very happy that I have never had to use it. Others on my trip did have medical issues and were happy they were covered. It's just the smart thing to do unless you are independently wealthy.
