The MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound plan is available to U.S. residents who need medical coverage while traveling abroad on trips up to one year in length. There are multiple medical limits to select from, ranging from $10,000 to $500,000. This plan also offers Emergency Medical Evacuation and Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits, as well as hazardous sports coverage. There are also many 24/7 assistance services included with this plan.

Since I did not have a claim I don't know how the plan would pay claims. I picked MEDEx because I wanted to have some kind of coverage when I went skiing in Canada.

I only wanted medical insurance for my wife, who is on Medicare, but had to take the other coverage, at some additional cost I suppose. Fortunately no need to make a claim.

Thankfully I did not need to use this medical coverage. Therefore, I find it difficult to offer input on the plan's ease of use and benefits provided. However, based on the summary of benefits info rec'd, it appeared to provide the coverage I needed while vacationing in Canada. and the cost was fairly reasonable.

Since I have a elderly loved one in assisted living that I'm always concerned about when travelling. I feel comfortable having trip insurance since one never knows whether you might have to rush home. This happened to us 4 years ago when my brother died the day after we left for a 7 day tour and we were able to return & get reimbursed for everything we were unable to do. I will always get trip insurance whenever I travel.

Since we did not need to file a claim, we do not know for certain how satisfied we would have been with the coverage payout, but from ease of purchase online, clear written delineation of what we could expect to be covered, and price for potential coverage, we were happy with the plan. We have purchased it previously and never needed to use it.
