There are multiple medical limits to select from, ranging from $10,000 to $500,000. I had the good fortune not to test my coverage as the trip was accident and illness free. But, I felt secure going to Japan. I also appreciated that I could download the policy onto my iPhone for easy access.

This was one of the most thorough and user friendly plans available. I was certainly hoping my daughter would not have to use it but I did have her contact the number from Japan to see if it was a human or machine she would be getting in an emergency. The staff that answered were helpful and courteous. She confirmed she talked to people and I had to call and say thank you. It was very nice to know that my baby would be taken care of until she came home. I will use this insurance for all my traveling needs.

You may be referring to coverage for the “Complication of Pregnancy†which this plan defines as "...a condition requiring Hospital confinement, whose diagnosis is distinct from pregnancy but adversely affected or caused by pregnancy, such as: a) acute nephritis or nephrosis; b) cardiac decompensation; c) missed abortion; and d) similar medical and surgical conditions of comparable severity.
Complications of Pregnancy will also include: a) non-elective cesarean section; b) termination of ectopic pregnancy; and c) spontaneous termination of pregnancy, occurring during a period of gestation in which a viable birth is not possible. However, the term Complication of Pregnancy will not include: a) false labor, occasional spotting, or morning sickness; b) Doctor prescribed rest; c) hyperemesis gravidarum; d) pre-eclampsia; or any similar condition associated with the management of a difficult pregnancy not consisting of a nosologically distinct Complication of Pregnancy."
