Every time I book a trip, I call InsureMyTrip so I can get the best rate possible. I also check with the cruise line at the time of booking on their prices. I have never had to use the insurance but I certainly don't want to be without it. I have seen far too many medical emergencies on and off the ship to take the chance of being uninsured.

We did not have to use the insurance, but Hurricane Joaquin hit during our cruise, so if it had been a week later we may have had to use it. I wouldn't cruise without it, especially during hurricane season.
