GeoBlue Voyager Essential
The GeoBlue Voyager Essential is a single-trip medical plan, which offers emergency medical coverage while you are traveling abroad.
This plan does not require you to have primary health insurance in place, but there is a 6-month period, prior to the coverage date, for pre-existing conditions. Medical coverage on this plan includes an exclusion for pre-existing conditions, but there is still coverage for emergency medical transportation whether it is due to a known condition or not.
With this plan, you have the ability to select the medical limit, and also the deductible amount. This allows you to have peace of mind knowing you have an amount of coverage that you were able to choose and that you are comfortable with. It also includes the Direct Pay program, which will pay medical bills upfront if the appointment was made with a medical provider in the GeoBlue network and GeoBlue is aware of the appointment 24-hours in advance.
GeoBlue will provide you with an emergency assistance number to call 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the event you need medical assistance or an emergency evacuation during your trip. Also, you will have access to detailed service profiles regarding doctors and hospitals in their area you are traveling. This can help you to prepare and make informed decisions about your medical treatment if there is an emergency during your trip.
The Voyager Essential plan offers 24/7 telemedicine visits at no extra cost to members. Through Global TeleMD, members are able to secure a same day virtual visit with GeoBlue’s global network of doctors. The program offers multiple language options and consultation notes are sent directly to your phone. Additionally, Voyager Essential members have access to GeoBlue’s award-winning app providing medical term and phrase translations, a medicine equivalent tool, and news and safety information based on your location, and more.
When you need to end your trip early, due to a ‘covered reason’, trip interruption benefits can help reimburse you for the cost of air or ground transportation back home. Typically, covered reasons for trip interruptions include a covered illness or injury, a felonious assault, a terrorist event, or an imminent threat to your personal safety during the trip. Baggage protection is also included in this plan. The benefit will reimburse a traveler up to $500 (up to $100 per bag or personal effect) for replacement clothes and personal hygiene items if a piece of luggage is lost, damaged or stolen during transit.
The GeoBlue travel medical plans are available for purchase only before your departure date. If you have already departed on your trip, do not purchase this plan because you will not have any coverage.
